It started with a boredom at home... My 4PK still serve me right. Decide to change my Drifting for cleaner, simpler looks and style. :)

Warning: Do not spray without applying undercoating for plastic! It will not last. I send to Car painter to do the job for RM80. After painting and assembled... I'm so happy as it looks better.

D-like Re-R setup updates, inspired by the best angle of Saito Daigo Hey Man tuning

After the initial setup, I keep on improving the ackerman angle. Here are the macro view of it. This time the outer had a bit more angle. I dont need zero ackerman, i need closer to zero ackerman while having my static toe out at 0 to 2 depending on tracks. My target acheived for now. Keep in mind that my absorbers are at the inner most position on the lower arms. My inspirations on Saito Daigo setup...

As I learned that his ackerman were set according to horse power of his car... Interesting. :)

That is why i try to replicate the knuckle and ackerman resulting shorter knuckle position and moved outwards.

Static Toe intended were straight to out, I'm currently at Pro Ackerman setup.


Did I mentioned initially Re-R had understeered? Well like this. I'm using Overdose DRB C-Hub and standard DRB knuckles. What happened was, i realised my 44mm Overdose UJ became shortened!
I set all the camber to 0. Use setup station thin wheels and read the track width. It was 199mm Front and 196mm Rear! 3mm wider at the front and it will definitely understeer! It was not my battery locations, Soft hard absorbers etc. It was the WIDER front! Damned!



The solution were I used the inner position by carefully drilled 1.5mm through the front lower arm. Overdose Hub can secure the pin with centre screw. No issue. :) The front width now is 98.5mm! and my UJ sit in the middle of the Alex Racing One-Way unit. Yeah, i bought it recently  :)
Having said that, the 6 offset wheel were scraping the lower arm while turning. I had to use 2 mm spacer to clear. I will either reinforce & cut the outer arm or use 8mm Offset rims.
To balance it out I use 0.5shim to make it balance front and rear. :)

Question: Did you notice when you add camber to your car, it will actually widen the contact surface? :)



Question: Do you think servo horn will impact your steering work? I think servo saver do impacts our driving....after soooo long I just knew... :P

"Lets try countersteering with underdrive/overdrive!"
No, I Don't Want, I'm lazy, You are crazy, Its difficult!
Now its already common culture

When 4WD CS era:
"Lets try countersteering with 2WD rear wheel drive"
No, I Don't Want, I'm lazy, You are crazy, Its difficult!
What do you think the future will be?

I think:

1. Car design will change, weight preference will change!
2. Front UJ will not sell. :)
3. Special tires will emerged
4. New competition judging

My Re-R initial setup

My Re-R just finished initial setup since bought in Dec. :)
In my opinion, Initial setup means:

1) The car is neutral in weight and fully balance.
2) Off throttle handling should be slightly oversteer.
3) On throttle handling should be smooth.
4) CS Ratio had been finalised for 2 surface.
5) Final ratio is were set according to the motor at the higest EPA.
6) Damping and springs setup ideas for 2 surface.
7) Able to chase your fastest friend's racing line or take them over. :)
8) Able to carry less equipments & spareparts to tracks as no major changes needed anymore (no shock pumps,oils, no spare pulleys,belts etc)
9) More drift time than bench time (sitting and setting & sitting again) :)
10) If I start to think on next bodyshells!

Only today i can say Re-R is a great chassis. Nothing else to hop-up anymore :)

What D1GP drivers do when they didn't qualified a round?

Tezuka and Nomuken were crying sadly due to their championship title were crushed when they didn't qualify. They came to the crowd and judges to appologies for their mistakes. In Japan, judges and fans are highly respected. :)

Tips: If you use yokomo shocks, you need to use Tamiya or ARD piston. I modified my original piston to fit. :)

Drift knuckle testing 2012. Finding Mr. Ackerman..

I tried so many knuckles to find the best combo. I want minimal ackerman (not zero) which need to be suitable to the new chassis geometry. The current findings, BD5 hubs (makes the front wheel base longer) + DRB knuckles offer the best setup. Tomorrow my overdose c hub will arrive, I'm gonna take advantage of the 6 camber 8 caster default combination. yearh!

Drift Aero tuning

Me and EE trying the R31 (we buy TEH 31, cheaper) rear diffuser.
Noticed a bit stability, maybe just f psychological effect. With a body, it look nicer as well. :)

My car ESC just burned! bought LRP SXX version 1. Still testing the profiles. :)
